Welcome to our Maine Prisoner Alumni Network
For me, there is nothing sadder than when a brother or sister comes back to prison—stuck on the merry-go-round, doing life on the installment plan.
I’m Peter Lehman and I did a six year bid, mostly at the old prison in Thomaston and at Bolduc in Warren. I got out in 2003.
And, for me, there is nothing more powerful than the counsel and support of a brother or sister who has been there. Nothing more powerful to help getting off the merry-go-round.
So I have been working with the Maine Prisoner Re-Entry Network, meeting with men in the Maine State Prison and at Bolduc, and supporting them through their reentry into our communities. Others have been working with women and men at MCC and jails around the state.
It seems to me that it would be helpful to have a statewide network of us—prisoner alumni—helping our sisters and brothers as they go through that process. Or helping others to understand how to help. Supporting returning citizens so they can stay out.
I’m not asking you to do anything now except to become part of our network by getting on my mailing list (which I will not share).
If you are a prisoner alumni, please fill out and submit the form on this page to get on our mailing list. I’ll get back to you for more conversation and get your ideas.
And PLEASE pass this on this link to any other alumni you know or anyone who might have their own connections.
THANK YOU.
Yours in Love and Service,
Peter Lehman
